Are You Ready For Some Football?

As fall approaches and the kids head back to school, our weekends will soon become consumed with homework, trips to the pumpkin patch, and of course, football!

Football parties might take over your Sunday afternoons, but they don't have to take over your waistline.  So throw on your favorite team jersey, grab your foam finger, and try out some of these tips for hosting a healthy football season:

  1. Swap out your meaty chili for vegetarian or turkey chili, topping it with light cheese and light sour cream.
  2. Create tasty nachos with whole-grain tortilla chips, tomatoes, onions, and light cheese.
  3. Swap out your cheese tray for a fruit tray with yogurt sauce.
  4. Drink lots of water. Not a fan of H20? Spruce it up with some fruit wedges or try sparkling water.
  5. Eat lightly salted almonds, which will help you feel full.
  6. Swap out your greasy potato chips for whole wheat pretzels and hummus.
  7. Try making grilled chicken kabobs instead of fried chicken wings.
  8. Serve veggies with a healthy ranch dressing.
